Atelier Pacific is a multi-disciplinary architectural design studio whose specific expertise lies in maximizing and enhancing the usability of spaces. The Atelier Pacific design team takes a consumer-oriented perspective, focusing on rationalizing function rather than being bound to house style or image. By crossing conventional boundaries, the team creates spaces and objects that successfully push the design solution to a higher qualitative level. The effectiveness and impact of this design strategy can be seen in a variety of successful collaborations within the South East Asia region, ranging from commercial and cultural work for Cheung Kong Holdings, the British Council and the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, to high profile retail environments for Hermès, G.O.D. and Louis Vuitton. In all cases, the essence of Atelier Pacific's contribution lies in the thoughtful and careful creation of spaces - evident not only in sophisticated retail or complex office planning, but also in modern urban infrastructure and transport projects. This public-oriented sensibility is registered in subtle and far-reaching terms in the case of urban design programmes or signage and graphics systems that identify and direct circulation, as implemented for, among others, the Bangkok 'Sky Train', Hong Kong International Airport, MTRC, Hong Kong Tourism Board, the Taiwan High Speed Rail and the Dubai Metro.

Founded in Hong Kong in 1995, the studio is guided by the philosophy of its managing director, Nic Banks, whose previous professional experience in Europe provides a valuable pool of knowledge gained from working with world-renowned design practitioners such as Antonio Citterio, Norman Foster and Michele de Lucchi. Within the open workshop culture of Atelier Pacific, this knowledge combines with the broad range of skills available from other members of the studio to deliver results that draw together the design, the client and the consumer perspectives into a successful and effective design solution.
